ER Referrals
Veterinary Specialty Center is a 24 hour emergency and critical care facility equipped to handle a variety of emergency cases. If you are transferring a patient to our emergency department, we ask that you call ahead if possible and complete the form below, so we can request your patient’s medical history and gather the appropriate records to ensure we are prepared for the patient’s arrival. This is also a valuable opportunity to work closely with you and provide guidance if necessary. We understand that emergencies can happen at any time, and that it may not always be possible to prepare for an emergency transfer. However, we ask that the following information be provided in advance, if mangeable:
- Patient Description (age, sex, and breed)
- Name of pet owner
- Name of pet
- Brief description of the patient’s existing illness or other health problems
- Primary reason for this emergency visit
Does Your Patient Need Urgent Not Emergency Care?
If the patient needs timely care, but does not require immediate professional attention, they may qualify for VSC’s Get In Line for the ER service. We keep your patient and their human family up to date on wait times at our hospital and when it is their turn to be seen.
Our team will provide updates regarding your patient’s care during their time at Veterinary Specialty Center. Although many of our emergency cases are quickly resolved, our specialists will remain available to you to provide guidance. Our team strives to be a reliable, valuable resource when it matters most for our patients, which is why we will do our best to make the transfer process as smooth as possible for everyone involved.
