Get to Know the Expertise, Skill, and Heart Behind VSC

What sparked your passion to focus in your area of expertise?

My rotating internship at the Veterinary Specialty Center introduced me to the quick-thinking and well-rounded doctors working in the ER. Since then, I have come to appreciate and enjoy this part of veterinary medicine and look forward to the wide variety of cases it presents.

What are some of the biggest challenges in your area of expertise?

Working in an emergency setting requires being on your toes every minute of your shift. There is never a dull moment in the ER, and no case is too rare to appear. Balancing the pet’s needs with the owners’ concerns adds another layer of complexity, especially in an emergency situation.

Is there a particular case that has inspired you?

Every case has inspired me in different ways. The care I have witnessed from owners and the strength displayed by their pets is incredible. Working in veterinary medicine has taught me never to discount an animal’s will to beat the odds.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I have a golden retriever who loves to walk and explore as much as I do. We have traveled to many different countries together and gone on long hikes. I enjoy all types of sports; I grew up playing water polo, which holds a special place in my heart, but I also love soccer, tennis, pickleball, swimming— you name it. Another passion of mine is food. My fiancé and I are always looking for new restaurants to try.
